SAMUEL ROY: juggling and creativity

Samuel started dabbling in the circus world at the age of 7, when he developed a passion for juggling and acrobatics. He began his training and got some stage experience at the Circus School of Verdun. After completing his professional studies at the National Circus School in Montreal, he began working as an artist on various projects and shows worldwide, for Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize, Cavalia and many other world-renowned companies. In 2010, he started to teach juggling at the National Circus School of Montreal. He founded the company Throw2catch, which specializes in the production of contemporary circus shows. He also set up a circus arts and acrobatic activities training and development center called Studio ArtCorps. Since then, he has been fascinated by the creation of shows and is seeking to develop a new type of performance using innovative ideas and concepts that have yet to be explored in the circus world. He wants to transform spectators’ experience and their participation in the performance. Samuel joined the Casting team in 2014 after 3 years working as a talent scout, he holds the position of «Senior casting advisor for shows in creation».

This workshop offers circus artists with juggling skill or juggling specialists to diversify their register and integrate new creative vision into their work. This workshop will be a place for exploration and research of new techniques to develop an innovative personal language while learning and exploring current trends in the world of juggling. All jugglers of all level are welcome, no matter what equipment you are using. We will also explore juggling from different angles with more rarely used objects.
