Veera Kaijanen
Horizontal rope / Finlandia /
“In my school year, there was a boy who went to a circus school. I asked my mom if I could join also. (…) the next memory is me in the warm up session with the other kids…”
Veera, originally from Finland, entered the circus path at a very young age. Although training at the local school was more recreational than demanding, her fascination with circus grew steadily. She felt that her future was inevitably tied to it.
She first stepped on stage at the age of 7. Her prop back then was the hula hoop, which she still works with today, alongside vertical rope. What has remained unchanged is the same pure, childlike joy she felt then.
She graduated from the Académie Fratellini in Paris and set off into the world. Today, she has more than 15 years of stage experience.
She describes her style as classical with a contemporary twist — a fusion of grace and elegance with a touch of playfulness and strength. In her act, she skillfully combines quick-change costume art, ballet on pointe, and advanced circus techniques.
For her, contemporary circus offers artistic freedom, transporting both artist and audience into a whole new dimension of creativity.
She loves coffee — and has no trouble falling asleep even after an evening espresso.
